1999
‘La consolation de l’isolé’, for soprano and orchestra, selected from over 60 works for performance in the closing concert of the National New Composers’ Forum in York by the English Northern Philharmonia and Ilana Jacobs (soprano), conducted by Elgar Howarth.
Commissioned to contribute a work for the Schubert Ensemble of London’s education project Chamber Music 2000. Subsequently, ‘when the moon rises...’ has become one of the project’s most popular pieces, with performances by students and children at London’s South Bank Centre, Cheltenham International Festival and at many other venues in the UK and Norway. It features on the Schubert Ensemble’s CD ‘a white room’ (NMC Recordings, 2001).
2000
‘Choreia’ for symphony orchestra premiered by the New Bristol Sinfonia under Jonathan James. This work was commissioned by the orchestra.
‘On Hopechapel Hill’, a community commission for amateurs and children, (with Millennium Lottery funding) premiered at Bristol’s Hope Centre by Hotwells Music Workshop and Hotwells Primary School.
2002
‘A deeper season’ for piano quartet premiered by the Schubert Ensemble at the Victoria Rooms, Bristol.
‘Dithyramb’ for violin and piano premiered by Satomi Yasutaniya (violin) and Mayako Kato (piano) in Mahoroba Hall, Nara, Japan.
‘A deeper season’ performed at the 2002 Cheltenham International Festival of Music.
‘A deeper season’ receives Canadian premières in Ottawa and Victoria, Vancouver Island.
2003
‘Tango del deseo fatal’ premiered by the Schubert Ensemble, in Neskowin, Oregon, USA.
‘A deeper season’ receives London première at the Purcell Room, South Bank Centre, London; subsequently, several further performances have taken place.
2005
‘Schulz’s hourglass’ for cello and piano premiered by Jamie Walton and Daniel Grimwood, at London’s Wigmore Hall.
‘Into the ring of dancing shadows’ for piano quintet premiered by the Schubert Ensemble, at the 2005 Newbury Spring Festival.
‘The wind in the ash…’ for piano quartet premiered in the Close Encounters with Music series in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA.
2006
‘Dithyramb’ premiered in new version for flute and piano by Lenka Hrehorová and the composer at the Elenstraatkerk, The Hague, Netherlands
‘The wind in the ash…’ given its UK première by the Bridgewood Ensemble at the church of St. Mary-le-Strand, London
2007
